YONKERS, NY – August 15, 2015 — Ghosts and Legends of Yonkers is the newest addition to The History Press’ Haunted America series. The book by Bronx author and now Yonkers resident Jason Medina is set to release on August 31st, 2015.

Author Jason Medina was born and raised in The Bronx, New York; he lived there until his late twenties. While growing up, he’d often write his own comic books or make up stories. In the third grade, he won an award for a book-making contest. However, it wasn’t until moving to Yonkers that he’d consider the possibility of turning his stories into books.

In 2006, Jason picked up a new hobby. Together with his cousins, he formed the Yonkers Ghost Investigators. They began going to locations within Yonkers that were rumored to be haunted. A website was created for his team as a way to show off the evidence collected during the group’s paranormal investigations. There are currently hundreds of photos, numerous videos and many EVP sound bites on the website. Within ghost hunting and parapsychology, Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) are sounds found on electronic recordings that are interpreted as spirit voices that have been either unintentionally recorded or intentionally requested and recorded.

In the summer of 2013, he published his first book entitled No Hope for the Hopeless at Kings Park. On March of 2014 he published his second book, The Diary of Audrey Malone Frayer.

The quiet New York suburb of Yonkers hides a history of hauntings advises Mr. Medina. Now converted into apartments, old Public School 13 is the site of strange apparitions that may be ghosts of former students and teachers who died in a tragic fire. The Boyce Thompson Institute’s lofty goal of solving world hunger was never met, and unfulfilled spirits are said to lurk in its abandoned laboratory. Wealthy colonial landowners still watch over stately historic homes like Philipse Manor Hall. Even the iconic Untermyer Park is a playground for the otherworldly. Local ghost investigator Jason Medina reveals these and other ghosts of Yonkers.

Ghosts and Legends of Yonkers is Jason’s first real chance at historical nonfiction but it will not be his last. Keep an eye out for Kings Park Psychiatric Center: A Journey Through History, which will be the definitive history of the abandoned Kings Park Psychiatric Center at Kings Park on Long Island. In addition, another fictional novel entitled A Ghost in New Orleans should also be published by end of the summer of 2015.

Yonkers Daily Voice

Well, I spoke to a few people at Philipse Manor Hall, which was featured on the cover of my book "Ghosts and Legends of Yonkers" and it looks like I might have a book signing event sometime in October prior to Halloween. I will post more when this is  confirmed. It looks good, though.

Many years ago my aunt and God-mother, Evelyn, married a very good man by the name of Benjamin Levy. Ben has now been a rabbi for over 18 years. These are two books he has written. Please, show your support and buy his books or refer them to a Jewish friend!

I have just been informed by a member of Arcadia Press, where The History Press now falls under, that my upcoming book will be released on August 31, 2015. It's a little later than I hoped, but at least it will be out before Halloween.

I will announce any new information as it becomes known to me. I still do not have an actual cover image, yet, but I hope to have one soon. I believe it will have Philipse Manor Hall on the cover, which is fine by me, since it is the oldest house in Yonkers.
