Paintings by Jason Medina
When I was in college, I remember coming home one day and turning on the television. I changed the channel to see what was on and stopped when I came across a man in an afro, who was painting a masterpiece. That man was Bob Ross and he immediately became an inspiration to me.
Ever since that day I saw Bob Ross painting, I knew I would someday take up painting. Why? The answer is simple. It's because he made it look so easy. Back then I was more focused on other hobbies and college, so it would have to wait, and then I joined the NYPD. I was not in a hurry to test my skills. Besides, I figured it was something I could do, after I retired.
Well, I retired in 2014 and began painting, as planned. I try to create a new painting every few months. I still have other hobbies that keep me very busy. Some of my paintings are actually pretty good, while others are not too great. It will take time to improve my skills before I can truly be satisfied with my work. However, compared to so-called artists out there that paint a single dot on a blank canvas, I think I do okay. Just for fun, I've posted my very first painting above, which I did when I was in grade school. Below are my other paintings, along with some steps along the way in creating them. I hope you will enjoy your visit to my little world. I try to keep it happy.
Thanks, Bob.
