KPPC
I could go on all day about how photographable the Kings Park Psychiatric Center can be. After all, I wrote several books about this place. It is a state park, that was once a state hospital. The hospital, which at its peak had about 10,000 patients, was established in 1885. It closed in 1996, along with many other state hospitals. However, the buildings remained... abandoned for decades. There are still more than a dozen buildings spread throughout the grounds, some hidden away by trees, while others impose their ominous presence upon the surrounding area. It is both a lure to photographers, urban explorers, ghost hunters, and vandals, while also being an eyesore to some locals with a lack of appreciation for their town's early history. Needless to say, I love this place and enjoy going here for a relaxing day of walking and photography. It is the perfect place for a variety of shots.
I should say, it is dangerous to wander about abandoned buildings and tunnels, not to mention it is illegal. Be smart.
