The Ghost of Karen Millicent Black
Amelia is an alcoholic. She lives a lonely bitter life of regret in her Yonkers home. She spends most of her nights wallowing in drunken despair, ever since losing her 8-year-old daughter, Karen. It was almost exactly a year ago to the day, when young Karen accidentally drowned in the family swimming pool due to Amelia's negligence.
Now Karen is back to get revenge.
This story was actually inspired by a very realistic nightmare I had in 2001, only months after I first moved into my home in Yonkers. I incorporated parts of the nightmare into the story, so I cannot tell what it was about without giving away part of the story.
Oddly enough, it was very reminiscent of the film, "The Ring," except that the film did not come out until 2002. However, that film was based on the original Japanese version entitled, "Ringu," which came out in 1998. The only thing is I never even heard of the Japanese version until I'd already seen the American version.
Whatever the case may be, I originally planned this story to be a home movie and that's exactly what it became. In 2004, I began writing the plot and used my older sister, Sylvia Medina, in the starring role of Amelia. I used a doll called "Creepy Karen" for the part of Karen. The doll was a $400.00 item purchased from www.MonsterProps.com. I bought her specifically to do the film. The 45 minute film turned out to be a hit with the family and friends.
Since I was using Karen's actual name, I decided on borrowing the other names from the actress, Karen Black. She starred in a 1975 film entitled "Trilogy of Terror," which basically had three different horror stories with each starring her. I used the name Millicent from one story, in which she plays twins. The name Amelia came from the third story, which was my favorite of the three. It was a tale called "Prey" and was based on a short story by Richard Matheson, in which a doll comes to life and tries to kill the character named Amelia. It can be found in the popular book, "I Am Legend." The original version of my story is kind of an homage to "Prey," combined with the inspiration of my nightmare.
Below are several photos from the actual home movie, which I made based on "The Ghost of Karen Millicent Black." Please, excuse the poor quality, as they were taken several years ago using a cheap camera and uploaded onto a lower resolution computer. By the way, in case you are wondering... I will not be selling any copies of my film due to various copyright infringements. It was only made for fun. Sorry. All I can show you is the original trailer that I made, which you can see when you scroll down below.

"The Ghost of Karen Millicent Black" Trailer
No, this is NOT an actual film. It is only a trailer for a home movie I did based on this story. It was filmed in 2004 and is not for sale. It is just for fun. It can still act as a preview for this book, though. Enjoy!
