They wanted to make sure others knew how to detect it, avoid it, and deal with it. Much of that information was being added to a particular notebook by Charles Foster with help from a few of his friends. These notes were later transferred to a separate book when the group reached Canada, and then posted on the Internet for all to see. Afterwards, it was updated frequently with new information.
It is unsure how long that information will remain available, considering how widespread the virus has become. Plus, there is no telling how long the Internet will remain active, before EVERYTHING SHUTS DOWN and EVERYONE DIES!
